This work puts into discussion the question of Family Farming (FF) at Argentina present-day, differentiating its role and its various denominations under fordism and neoliberalism contexts. Also, the international recognition that FF has received in connection with the food problem is underlined. In the case of Argentina, the strengthening that FF has achieved since its insertion into Mercosur (2004) and the “rural conflict” (2008) is analyzed too. In addition, FF is discussed as a political category with its potentialities and limitations. Finally, it thinks about FF and its positioning as subject of a transformative project, within the framework of the limitations that the neoliberal model imposes on agriculture in Latin America and in Argentina, in particular.
