This article seeks to analyze the role of the State on the conditions of reproduction of peri-urban Family Farming. From the proposed conception of public policies, we systematize the problems of access to land and horticultural commercialization marketing as two socially problematic issues. We propose some reflections about the structural relationship that we see in both problems, based on the analysis of two case studies in the Parties of La Plata and Moreno - south and west of the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires. The conclusions provide some elements on the scope and limitations of public policies to address the structural inequalities that affect family farming, in order to find some answers to strengthen its role as a provider of fresh food.
