Abstract

This research is part of the theoretical debate of repeasantization as a collective or individual counter-hegemonic current that occurs in a context where migration from the countryside to the city and the devaluation of primary activities such as agriculture prevail. The repeasantization processes in six case studies of the northern Ecuadorian mountain range with different economic, ethnic, geographical - spatial and climatic characteristics are described. We found that repeasant families, migrate or return to the countryside in a context of adversity. Repeasants farms are characterized by having high pluriactivity and diversify their activities within the farm, in most cases agriculture does not correspond to the greater source of economic income, despite complementary activities, sustain agricultural activity and vice versa. It is found that the recampesinos actors exhibit effective competences for the management of demands of the territory, probably due to their proximity to the city and the social relations they maintain in it. We used the theoretical framework of the networked territory, the peasant principle, farm styles, and the theory of the field of praxis to raise these arguments.
