Abstract

Based on a bibliographic review, this work proposes an approximation between agroecology and generational succession in family farming. Thus, it is possible to undertake that the traditional patterns of succession in family farming mentioned in Brazilian literature can no longer be transferred vis to vis for today. In this sense, rural exodus and the lack of young people interested in agricultural activity become concerned about various sectors of society. Considering agroecology as a socio-product dynamic other than conventional production, it is worth questioning: can agroecology be an important motivator for the permanence of young people in rural and agricultural activity? That and other questions close this work, aiming for further studies on the subject. Kew-words: family farming; family succession; rural youth. Introdução
