Abstract

Latin American rural studies have focused on certain social issues, whether for their political role, economic functionality or accessibility to sources of information. In contrast, others, such as youth, indigenous communities, black people, or workers, have been subjected to a logic of exclusion or, at least, have not received the same treatment. Within this debate, this dossier seeks to account for academic productions that, with different methodologies, some newer and less conventional, recover the leadership role and agency capacity of rural subjects that are generally invisible to the social sciences. From multiple disciplinary approaches, with a focus on Argentina and Brazil and transcending written documentation, the authors seek to recover their voices, profiles, logics, and vestiges.
