This dossier presents a specific debate about the forms of associativism in Argentine agriculture. These experiences are highly heterogeneous; while progress has been observed in the creation of formal cooperatives, a significant portion of these initiatives do not materialize within these formal parameters. The repertoire also encompasses different ways of relating to the environment, which implies a variety of uses and appropriations of rural space. These modalities generate diverse and unique balances between the economic, environmental, and social aspects in their daily practices. In this sense, the co-presence of agroecology and agrarian associativism constitutes an emerging field—relevant to this Dossier—which has been explored not only in terms of the tenets of this movement (which includes the appeal to collective action) but also in its academic study. Four articles on cooperation in agroecological and conventional production processes in the provinces of Buenos Aires and Misiones are shared.
