New ruralities and multifunctionality in agriculture. A historical perspective of Latin America (1980-2020).

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the particularities of the new ruralities in Latin America and the transformations in rural areas. It begins with a conceptual approach, followed by a historical overview of the last four decades, and finally, it will consider the effects of neoliberal policies and globalization on the primary sector.
