Family agriculture and sustainability in the municipality of Maraú, Bahia, Brazil

This work has as main objective to analyze the sustainability in family farming in the municipality of Maraú, Bahia. For this purpose, thematic maps of the territory of the Southern Coast of Bahia identity were made, and tables, using data from the IBGE agricultural censuses (2006; 2017), to contextualize the agricultural characteristics of the region and Maraú, and application of a form semi-structured with sustainability indicators. From the results, it was noticed that the number of family farmers and their role in local family agriculture are significant, also the result of public policies. The communities of the Macacos, Luzitânia and Tabuleiros regions showed the most fragile indicators, requiring intervention strategies.
