Abstract

The article discusses the fundamentals and contradictions of temporary wage and payment for production at work in agriculture in the Agroindustrial Canavieiro da Paraíba Complex in the 2000s. it is used in the cane fields only for a few months of the year, corresponding to the harvest period. With regard to the wage modality routed in the cane fields, the argument is made here that the payment for production (in this case, per cut ton) is configured as the most appropriate wage modality to the business practices in force in the sugar and alcohol sector because at the same time it articulates high productivity and intensification of work. Methodologically, under the categorical contribution of the critic of the political economy, the qualitative approach is used. The text is the result of empirical research. In short, it questions the objective and subjective consequences of temporary wage and payment for production on workers, largely confirming the social inequalities prevailing in the Brazilian field.
