Understanding that the ICT use can be highly dependent on the context, the study seeks to identify the levels of ownership, frequencies of use and general levels of knowledge about ICTs among rural youth from municipalities in the department of Boyacá (Colombia). To that end, a self-administered questionnaire was used, which 101 young people from the region answered via the Internet. The results present a panorama that shows a substantial entry of technology in the lives of these young people; however, low levels of ownership, frequency and importance attributed to technology are confirmed. The study concludes the necessity of education in the subject matter and the demand to continue exploring the issue.
