The seed system in Colombia has not been discussed in depth despite the international debate around the use and conservation of agrobiodiversity and the need for quality seed that pursue the development of resilient agricultural systems. This article intends to give a discussion over the dissimilar current forms of production, distribution and use of seed in the formal and local systems in Colombia, to pursue the comprehension and respect between science and traditional knowledge of rural communities, supported by legislation adjusted to the dynamics of the country's agricultural systems.
