OS AFOGADOS DO PASSO REAL: IDENTIDADE E LUTA PELA TERRA (1963– 1988)

Abstract

This paper discusses the process of struggle for land and the construction of na identity, carried out by the dislodged for the construction of the Passo Real dam. Since 1963, for the construction of the Passo Real Hydroelectric Power Plant, the State Government of Rio Grande do Sul hás expropriated 23,000 hectares ofland, displacing thousands of families. However, the 1980s arriveandseveraldisplacedpeopleandtheirdescendantswerenotresettledonthelandrecognizingthemselves as the “Drowner sof Passo Real”, so through documents found in regional unions and state archives, we Will analyze how the “drowned” mobilized and forged an identity in the struggle for land.
