At the initiative of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, 2021 was proclaimed by the UN as "International Year for the Eradication of Child Labor". According to the International Labor Organization (ILO) “child labor is considered to be any economic activity and/or survival strategy, paid or not, carried out by girls and boys below the minimum age for admission to employment or work (16 years)". The definition aims to distinguish activities that deprive children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is detrimental to their physical and psychological development.Published
