This article proposes the contrast between the discussions and practices that were implemented throughout the 19th century in relation to the indigenous and the debates that currently occupy the Brazilian public scenario about this problem. Therefore, it takes as a reference the principles and ordinances present in the Missions Regulation of 1845, the main document produced by the State in the 19th century and which focused on the indigenous. In contrast, to think about the current moment, the analysis is centered on discussing the agribusiness point of view on the native. Based on this comparison, the article aims to problematize and demonstrate the limits of the interpretations developed and conveyed by agribusiness and their representatives on the issue of indigenous lands.
